Yol and the Flying Kite

We went to Bristol for the weekend. It was partly for pleasure, partly for business as I imagine James Bond saying. Hanging out at Weston Super Mare (is that how you spell it?) on the Sunday was great and we flew the Kunt Stite that we bought at Lidl last year (Readers with long memories and dull lives will remember that there's nothing really stunt about this kite as it only has one string so the the only thrilling thing is managing to keep it in the air). We ate fish and chips, Max played in the "soft play area" whatever that is and then we headed home. The car broke down sort of on the way back home on Sunday night and we ended up spending an extra night in Bristol. A very nice man called Richard at the garage up the road fixed it and I'm sure it cost half the price it would have in London. Anyway Yol would like a "newer, bigger, quieter" car. What's wrong with a 10 year-old Metro in Rover Blue anyway? (It has 40K on the clock, it's automatic, 4-doors, immobiliser if you're interested. Yol is showing a real fascination with german cars. My only real stipulation is that it's black.)

Catfunt: Not For Sale

Can you believe someone offered me money to link to their site? Unbelieveable.

Anyway the site is called Think In Gethics, the Gethic Web (this is so ahead of the curve there's nothing on Google) being an offshoot of the Semantic Web. In this case big brained intellectuals who think about high-level stuff cluster together to swap ideas in public on the site. Smart but not smart enough to wear a coat when it's minus 7 degrees outside. Anyway, kidding aside it's a great site with some real mind-candy and I think the deal was click-through based.

Jazz radio on the Internet

There's a really nice online French Jazz Radio Station TSF that I've been listening to that someone mentioned in the Guardian's letters page yesterday. Just played Sonny Rollins' St Thomas which (I think) is from the album Saxophone Colossus. (I could check but that wouldn't be in the spirit of how I like to do things. Too lazy to even type a few words into Google, AMG or even Amazon.)

ZyWeb and Moonfruit

Work finds me experimenting with various easy to use site tools. This is my burgeoning ZyWeb site. It's called Made in China Makes Me Better.

This is my Moonfruit site.

I looked through the visitors' books at the galleries and I see Stella Vine has been hanging around the East End again. Some other names jumped out Keith Coventry, Merlin James, Peter Lamb and Picasso had also been in.

Christopher Collins; Storyville; My Birthday...

Lots of exciting things have been going on: Chris was on telly picking up the bafta for My Summer Of Love (Best Brit Film), saw a great Storyville (Made in China) on Nokia and China; hung out with Steve on my birthday and ate Chinese food... So what do I blog? This, Channel 4's Classic Weapons of WWII. Check it out.

There's also this guy but his three years at photography school were patently wasted in the pub.

Maracas Bay: Trinidad

Anyway, I'm in Victoria (London) for my sins and it's cold today but the sun is shining. Channel 4 have closed their canteen while building works are going on and are instead serving take away Chili from the First Floor meeting room. It sounded so much like a media-whore's soup kitchen I decided to have a look at the execs with their styrofoam containers but couldn't find it despite walking all over the first floor. So I walked over towards Pimlico and bought oranges and lychees from the market on Tachbrook Street and a horrible chicken and tomato sandwich from the otherwsie excellent Portugese deli. I think it's important to buy local fruit and veg when it's in season. Oh, I bought a green pepper for good measure.

Bake and Shark: Trinidad and Tobago

shark and bake

It's hell coming back from Trinidad where we've been with my family for the last two weeks. Monday I'm at the beach until 5pm chilling out, sitting in the shade because the sun's still pretty hot and I've been there all day. We're drinking Stag (Ad copyline: "A Man's Beer") while Richard tells me about the finer points of surfing. 12 hours later I'm sitting on a bus en route to the off-airport long stay Gatwick carpark. It's grey and dark. No fun.
